Storm’s younger cousin. Vandal’s little brother. You’ve met him in the background. The sweet one. The nice one. The one they can all rely on. The good one. He’s a tattoo artist. He plays metal and classical music - on the violin. He’s got a body built for sin. He’s 24. In comes Ivy. She’s a 36 year old single mom who hasn’t dated in 18 years. All she wanted was a tattoo. She got a helluva lot more :) Being good has never been so bad.

4 Stars

The story of Lukas and Ivy.
Lukas is a tattoo artist and plays a little in a family rock band.
Ivy is a HR professional, married, with two kids when the story begins.
I was shocked from the very first chapter.  We are listening to a phone call, but all is not what it seems!  Ivy's husband has been cheating on her for a year!  I wanted to pummel that jerk with a baseball bat!
Ivy's friend - which turns out to be kind of a jerk too - convinces her that change is good.  She gives Ivy a gift certificate for a free tattoo.  Well, wouldn't you know the tattoo artist is a hottie (Lukas)!  When they first meet, sparks fly.
But…..Ivy is older than him by quite a bit, she's just getting out of a bad marriage, and she has kids. All of which she thinks Lukas is probably not ready for.
Lukas is not about to give up though.  He is relentless, but not in a stalker-type of way.  He really was too good to be true, but I guess that's the stuff book boyfriends are made of. ;)
This story is told in alternating first person from Lukas and Ivy.
I enjoyed the way the author wove the tale, and you could definitely feel the love grow between the two.  It would be hard not to fall for a man like Lukas.
This is the first book in the series I have read (it is book 3), but I was not lost even once.  It truly is a standalone.
One thing I did not enjoy - the Katie part. *sigh*
I also wanted to punch Ivy's daughter Macy in the face.  That was awful!
The thing that stops me from giving this a 5 star is the extremely abrupt end of the last chapter which was basically a cliff-hanger sort, then goes in to the Epilogue.  Now, we DO get a very tiny idea of what happened in between, but as much detail as there was in the rest of the book, I felt as though I was cheated out of this important part.

Romance Readers received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts. My debut series, Ashes & Embers, follows the lives of rock band members as they find, and sometimes lose, the loves of their lives.
My first novel in the Ashes & Embers series, Storm, was published in September of 2014 and book 2, Vandal, was published in February 2015 with several more of this series planned throughout 2015.
Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
