REVIEW TOUR: Toxic and Fame (books 1&2 of Addiction Series) by Meghan Quinn

The moment you think everything is perfect in your life, it can all come tumbling down on top of you. Shattered Souls hasn’t seen each other in months. Deception and ghosts from the past have torn them apart, leading them their separate ways. When they realize they need to solve their differences and get back together for the sake of the band, they can’t find their lead singer, Rook Tyler, who’s been missing for months. Twisted Perfection is just coming off the high of yet another tour but this time, they weren’t riding the coat tails of Shattered Souls. Even though they’ve become more popular, all of the success from the last tour means nothing to Maisy as she continues to struggle daily from the loss of Rook. Fame finds both of the bands but sometimes, it can be lonely at the top. Both bands realize if they want to succeed, they have to drop their differences and join together, but it’s never that easy. Lovers, drugs, people’s pasts and death get in the way, while they try to travel down the bumpy road toward fame.

Fame - Book 2
4 Stars

Book 2 of the Addiction series. I am certain that book 1 needs to be read before this one, as the same people and storylines continue on.

After book 1, I wasn't quite sure what to expect.  Talk about going to hell in a handbasket!

First off, this book is almost non-stop sex. I would say storyline vs. sex is 50/50 - so definitely erotica.

This book takes you to very dark places with multiple characters.  I felt as though all hope was lost, and it left me depressed!

The ending is a whopper right to the gut!

No matter how sexy and bad-boy troubled Rook is, I still wanted to continuously punch him in the face! Maisy - just NO!

Willow - seriously?!  She definitely needs a few smacks and hair-pulling (though I suspect she'd like it!).

Landon - his bedroom choices left me confused.  I dunno, just seemed completely opposite of how he was portrayed before.

Cruz - still the same sarcastic a-hole with only one thing on his mind.

Kaid - poor guy! I want to hug him and stroke his hair like a little puppy.

I don't felt like any growth occurred for the characters at all from book 1 to book 2. If anything, they went more juvenile and destructive. I can see the crazy lifestyle they live causing issues, but not for ALL of them.

I am unsure if the author plans on a book 3, but I would really want to see something different planned before I committed to that much reading time again.

I would really rate this book a 3, but for the emotional sucker punch that occurred at the end.  That was the saving grace for me for this book.

3.5-4 Stars

This is book 1 of the Addiction series.
It follows two rock bands - Shattered Souls (4 men), and Twisted Perfection (2 women, 1 man).
I enjoyed how the author showed the rock tour side with the music, as well as the behind the scenes stuff such as finding the right visual image (clothing, hair, etc), photo shoots, interviews, etc.
In all honesty, though we didn't get enough of his point of view, I think I liked Kaid the best (the drummer for Twisted Perfection). He seemed the most down to earth to me, quietly soaking up the scenery and providing good advice and support to all of the 2 bands' members.
Rook and Maisy, the 2 lead singers, have it bad for each other. But they both have rough pasts, and getting over themselves to make some sort of healthy relationship seems pretty impossible.
Willow lusts after Grey (the 2 bassists), which has a devoted girlfriend already. Grey returns the lust, but isn't willing to hurt his girlfriend for a quick screw.
Landon pines over his brother's girlfriend. Cruz wants to bang anything in a skirt.
There is enough drama to have you pulling out your hair!
I did feel as though the story got redundant after awhile. It was the same thing over and over.  One hurts the other, they get back together, only to do the same dang thing again.
I was left very unsatisfied with the ending. Of all the potential couples….you were left with nothing resembling an HEA.  It in fact, left with a cliffhanger for the next book.
I hope at some point in the series, the author leaves the childish games behind and gives us something meaningful!
But all in all, I will be reading the next book, and potentially the next - as long as I get some satisfaction! (I did, the review is above)

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped. Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
